关于Basic Copper chloride:
Copper chloride, inorganic compound, chemical formula CuCl2. Copper chloride is a covalent compound in planar chain form. It is easily hygroscopic from air and becomes CuCl2·2H2O, a blue-green racky crystal dihydrate. Copper chloride is a yellowish brown powder, soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, soluble in ammonia, slightly soluble in acetone and ethyl acetate, slightly soluble in ether. Its aqueous solution reacts acid to litmus.
Copper chloride exists in nature as dichlorocopper. It is usually made by reacting copper carbonate with hydrochloric acid. Usually used as organic and inorganic reaction catalyst, mordant, insecticide, oil deodorization, desulfurization and finishing preparations.
Chemical properties:
Cuprous chloride is less thermally stable than cuprous chloride, but more stable than cuprous chloride in aqueous solution. Copper chloride aqueous solution is yellowish green at high concentrations and green at slightly lower concentrations. Blue in medium concentration, sky blue in thin concentration, and tan when heated. The yellow color is due to the formation of [CuCl4]2+ coordination ions, and the blue color is due to the formation of [Cu(H2O)4]2+ coordination ions, and the two coexist in green. Reacts with ammonia to produce a beautiful dark blue copper ammonia coordination ion [Cu(NH3)4]2+. When dissolved in acetic acid, this coordination ion forms copper ammonia acetate solution, which can be used as an absorber of carbon monoxide. Copper chloride reacts with a strong base to form a light blue copper hydroxide. It reacts with reducing anions such as I- and CN- to form cuprous salt (or complex) precipitation.
