Silkroad Nickel Ltd. is planning to build a Nickel processing and refining (smelting) industry in The Palu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Indonesia's Central Sulawesi province. It is estimated that the smelter needs to supply 3 million wet metric tons of nickel ore per year.
Silkroad Nickel Ltd. was the first Nickel miner to list on the SGX Kelly Board (ticker symbol: STP.SI). The GoGreen concept nickel company plans to build a phase I nickel smelter with a capacity of 4 x 36 MVA using rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) technology. The 100-hectare smelter project is located in palu Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Central Sulawesi Province.
"The phase II smelter project will continue to reach 8 x 36 MVA. Smelter construction project for Silkroad Nickel Ltd. This will increase the value of the investment in Indonesia by about $300m, "said Yaga Silk Road Nickel Business Development LTD.
Silk Road Nickel Is also a holding company with several nickel mining subsidiaries. The holding company actively maintains and improves infrastructure such as transport roads, warehouses, workers' quarters and heavy mining equipment to ensure the best and most efficient production quality.
Silk Road Nickel Has also successfully completed an integrated exploration drilling programme at the mine with the objective of renewing the resource base.
"The smelter to be built will need to supply 3 million wet metric tons of nickel ore per year, which will be processed into 280,000 tons of nickel-iron products per year," Yaga said.
Yaga explained that with the construction of the 4 x 36 MVA smelter, it is expected that Silkroad Nickel Ltd. Through this investment project, it can support the government's desire to meet the needs of the domestic market as well as the future needs of the international market.
Currently, the company has reached agreements with the central Sulawesi Provincial government and palu City government for the construction of the smelter. These relate to regional companies, cooperatives, msmes and empowerment schemes that employ local workers.
