Production at Chile's major copper mines, including Codelco and Escondida, fell in November from a year earlier, according to data released by the Chilean copper Council (Cochilco), BNAmericas website reported, citing Reuters.
In November, Codelco produced 153,800 tons, down 7.4 percent from a year earlier. Production in the first 11 months fell 0.4 per cent from a year earlier.
BHP Billiton LTD. 's Escondida mine, the world's largest, produced 80,300 metric tons of copper in November, down 11.6% from a year earlier. Production in the first 11 months fell 14.5 per cent year on year.
The Collahuasi copper mine, a joint venture between Glencore and Anglo American, produced 50,700 tonnes in November, up 5.1 per cent from a year earlier. Production in the first 11 months fell 0.8 per cent from a year earlier.
Chile produced 481,800 tonnes of copper in November, down 0.6 per cent from a year earlier, according to CoChilco.
