Nickel Production in The Philippines Rose 39 Per Cent in The First Half From A Year Earlier, While Copper Output Fell 24 Per Cent.

Nickel production in the Philippines rose 39% year-on-year to 151,646 tonnes worth 21.42 billion pesos in the first half of this year, according to the latest data released by the Bureau of Mines and Geological Sciences.


The Philippines is China's largest supplier of nickel ore.


Copper output in the Philippines fell 24 percent to 23,557 tonnes in the first half, while gold output rose 3 percent to 8,545 kilograms, the data showed.


The country's total metal output rose 24.5 percent in value terms to 68.6 billion pesos, boosted by strong prices, the Bureau of Mines and Geological Sciences said in a statement.
